Make your own rules
or be a slave to another man’s.
William Blake
In this life, you have two choices – you can make your own rules and live your life your way, or you can be a slave to another man’s rules. People like politicians, teachers, bosses, and even the new idiotic cancel culture will try to tell you how you must live your life, if you allow them to do so. They will try to tell you how to dress, what you can and can’t say, what you can and can’t do, what you can and can’t put into your own body, etc. This list goes on and on.
They can make their petty mandates and demand that you live your life according to their rules, but ultimately, it is YOU who gets to decide how to live your life. No man has been given the authority to tell you how you must live your life, but they will try to do just that if you allow them to.
You have to develop the backbone to go your own way. As William Blake stated, you must make your own rules or be a slave to another man’s rules. The choice always lies with you. There is never a time when you must bow down to another man’s rules, period. Yes, you may face various consequences for having the intestinal fortitude to live your life your way, but nobody said that living an independent life was going to be easy.
Once you start compromising and surrendering your right to live as you choose, you will find that your self-esteem and self-confidence began to decline. If you cannot freely speak your mind or live as you please, then you are indeed a slave to those who are able to control you. Remember, there are different levels of slavery, but in the end they are all a form of bondage and oppression.
Free yourself from the bonds of slavery. Make your own rules and your own code that you will live by. Refuse to relinquish the freedom that you have to live your life your way! Stop allowing someone else to control your life by dangling a carrot in front of you or by their pathetic treats of dire consequences.
When they try to bride you into accepting their control over your life, tell them where to shove their carrots and their threats and go your own way. Refuse to allow anyone to infringe on your freedom! Warrior up and have the courage to live your own life by your own rules!
You have remarked very interesting points! ps nice web site. “It is better to be hated for who you are than to be loved for what you are not.” by Andre Gide.
