The narrow road to the narrow gate can be a costly, lonely one. The world prefers sheep, people who just go along to get along, to not make waves, to conform. To do the right thing- regardless- can be costly and painful, but is your character, integrity, courage, purpose. Do the right thing and let the chips fall where they may. I remember watching one of my favorite movies- Braveheart- and Robert the Bruce's father says that it is the ability to compromise that makes a man noble- a lie. The world is the wreck it is, our culture, our nation, because of compromises. Our culture now especially is at war with our roots, our heritage, what it means to be a man, chivalry, a gentleman, a warrior. The enemies of freedom and honor want it all to be in the dustbin of history. We must, not matter what the cost, stand for what is right, good, honorable. There are things worse than death. Having to look in the mirror everyday after selling out, compromising to get ahead or avoid difficulty, living a lie, and on and on. Do the right and honorable thing, and let the chips fall where they may.

I agree, developing character is an ongoing process. It is not a goal that you achieve and then check off your list. The mental training that you are talking about is part of developing honor, integrity and character because it takes all of these to live your life in your own way without conforming to what someone else thinks is right or wrong, or normal.

You understand this process by studying the wisdom of the elders and by listening to your spirit. You may not ever "completely" understand this or perfect your character. Funakoshi said that the goal of karate is the perfection of character; he didn't say you would ever perfect your character though. We are both continually building character and integrity and using these as tools to develop the true warrior and live the warrior lifestyle.

No, the concept of the true warrior is not gender specific. There has always been female and male warriors, and always will be. I can think of several female warriors off the top of my head. The concept of the true warrior is also not dependent on being in a "warrior profession." It is an attitude and a way of life, and is for anyone who is willing to take his or her life in that direction.

I don't think that the battle between good and evil, right and wrong, will ever end as long as people inhabit this earth...so there will always be a need for the true warrior and the warrior lifestyle. I just finished the rough draft on my new book, Modern Bushido, which delves into the traits of the warrior lifestyle in more detail...so your reading list may get even longer in the near future. ;)

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles. Most people do not understand the attitude of the true warrior. I have lost my fair share of jobs because of my impatience with crooked practices also. When in that situation, you have to consider many things: your ultimate objective and you main duty among them. There is always more than one way to set things straight. I did receive your book order and will be processing that ASAP. Hope you enjoy the book and find it helpful. Bohdi

I am a true warrior. But ever since I ve chosen this path my life has become difficult. I have been fired and suspended from a few jobs for standing up against unfair and wrong things. I have been told to "Shut up and mind your own business."

While some people appreciate my courage, most people say "Stay out of trouble next time" and "Just ignore it and do your job". My parents say the similar things and my long term girlfriend seems to get upset sometimes. I dont understand, how come not everyone respect the attitude of a true warrior? I feel un-understood and stupid at times because of this. Mind you, I ve never hit anyone, used weapons or manipulated people for my own good etc.

But I know I am on the right track. I see how rare this energy is in 21st Century and the past is evidence that people who inherited it became great leaders and respected individuals. This is my purpose, my gift and I want to become better at it. When it comes to death I'd be most happy to go fighting for freedom and justice.

Looking forward to your book. I wish I had a mentor like you around me... It would ve made me very capable.
