Walk Alone

If you cannot find a good companion to
walk with, walk alone, like an elephant
roaming the jungle. It is better to be
alone than to be with those who
will hinder your progress.
Buddha

I see so many people who hang out with people who cause them nothing but trouble, only because they are not comfortable enough to walk alone. Although it makes them feel good, temporarily, to share the company of these troubled companions, more often than not, it leads them down a path that hinders their progress, and in many cases, leads them to trouble.

Don’t feel the need to constantly have someone around you all the time. Be comfortable enough with yourself to walk alone, especially if there is no men or women of honor to be your companions. It is better to be alone than to keep the company of lower individuals – those who will only bring you down.

As Buddha taught, if you can’t find quality people to associate with, walk alone. It is definitely much better to spend time with your thoughts than to spend time with those who are not men or women of honor, for those people will almost always hinder your progress. Remember, those who play with cats must expect to be scratched, and those who associate with mud, must expect to get dirty.
